My blog for today is all about acceptance, respect and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities. Just like you and me, they are entitled to dream big, laugh hard, love and see the world better. Every individual is entitled to aspire whatever they want in life. Hopefully my humble blog can somehow generate love and acceptance in our community. This was exactly the tune of the lunch event hosted by Essilor Philippines last July 15, 11:00 AM; and of course, Fierce Blogs was there to witness another milestone
For the past 10 years, it has been the advocacy of Essilor Vision Foundation to support Special Olympics. In fact, this 2015, they are sending 2 of the delegates to Special Olympics World games in Los Angeles. Lead Philippine delegates Brina Maxino and Sashi Montana as co-chairs; the 2 vibrant teens will represent our country during the Social Impact Summit. Brina and Sashi will be presenting "Eye Can Play: A Healthy Eyeffair," It's an edutainment (education and entertainment approach) to help Special Olympics athletes, their caregivers and the family around them to learn more about the importance of healthy vision.
Special Olympics World in LA happens from July 23 - 28, 2015. You and I can support the event by using the hashtag #EyeSupportSashiBrina and #SOGenUin (the official Social Impact hashtag).
Let's all support Brina and Sashi as well as their project - "Eye Can Play: A Healthy Eyeffair,"
This public blog awareness hopefully helped achieve acceptance and inclusion of all people, regardless of ability or disability. With the help and support of Essilor Vision Foundation, we will see individuals with intellectual disabilities differently.
