A Day of Beauty, Style and Art at Bonifacio Global City

My day started somewhat earlier than the usual yesterday. Normally, I would attend weekend events during the later part of the night but yesterday was different. At exactly, 12:15 in the afternoon, I woke up in a rush knowing that I am going to be late for a 1:00 pm commitment. And surely, I wad indeed late!

The first event that day was The Art + Science of Image organized by AICI (Association Image Consultants International). I was intrigued when I received the invite from them which says, "Harness the image business to innovate and grow yourself or your brand". And on top of that, they also promise to talk about "creating the edge over the competition through personal branding". That does it, I mused to myself. I immediately tapped the reply button from my Ipad and confirmed my attendance.

There were 3 speakers for the day: Delby Bragais (award-winning Fashion Designer and Image Specialist), Dina Loomis (First Filipina Image Consultant in the Philippines) and Dr. Vicky Belo (labels not necessary of her stature). If there is something common to the talk these power ladies had, it could summed to "Presentation is King". In these cut-through workforce we have in our country, it all boils down to not really what you now. Most of the time, people get hired based on how they look and how the present themselves during the interview. You can achieved all the skill set needed but if you look outdated and tired, the job will be awarded to the next pleasant and healthy-looking applicant. Sad  but it's the truth!

My take-away from the event that afternoon was simple - "Be the best that you can be and look the best you can!"

Later the same day, I also got invited to watch the first SpinDependence of 2012 which was held at Arts in the City at BGC. If you remember 2 years ago I blogged about a group called Planet Zips here. This time around the same group has gone so much bigger in terms of membership and followers. Planet Zip, headed by Paulino Servado III, has really done a great job promoting poi spinning in our country.

It was really nice seeing some dancing fire again last night.
