My two weeks vacation from blogging is officially over today! If you are wondering what's the vacation for, it is really scheduled to avoid blog drain. It's also nice to miss blogging every now and then. That's why I make it a point that the vacation is declared in all blog contracts I sign.

Part of my routine after waking up is to check my email messages. Today was no different from that: I went to http://www.yahoo.com/  , clicked mail and guess what? I almost chocked!

Sharon Cuneta Endorses Smart

I had to put my face as close as 12 inches to my laptop screen to check who is the latest endorser of Smart. It looks like Sharon Cuneta but a lot of the looks suggest it's not her! This is either a case of: the photoshop artists being drunk as hell or the model wanting for more alteration? But then again, I haven't seen a lot of local TV lately.

I guess the question is, how much photoshop is needed to enhance and beautify the ad photo?

One thing for sure, the companies are paying the celebrities for their names and what have you. They need to be recognizable in a snap without any doubt and second thought!

Sponge Cola releases ‘Araw Oras Tagpuan’

Sept 12 noon marked the release of Sponge Cola's new album called Araw Oras Tagpuan. This is the 4th full-length, studio album of the pop/rock band under Universal Records. The said album also marks Sponge Cola's first mainstream album since their debut in 2008.

Sponge Cola is composed of Ateneans Yael Yuzon on guitars and vocals, Armo Armovit on lead guitars, Gosh Dilay on bass, and Tedmark Cruz on drums.

Araw Oras Tagpuan contains 12 tracks including songs from the band’s “Tambay” EP which released early this year via Coca-Cola’s summer promo.

Some of the songs included in “Araw Roas Tagpuan” are “Tambay” – an original song written by the band’s front-man Yael Yuzon, which was peaked at number one on Myx and various radio stations and was the only OPM song on magic 89.9’s countdown for several weeks; “Regal” which is the CD’s current carrier single; “Walang Wakas” which was also the theme song of ABS-CBN’s series Wansapanatym: Rod Santiago’s Buhawi Jack which starred Gerald Anderson; an upcoming single titled “Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay;” “Araw Oras Tagpuan;” “Warning” which features drummer Tedmark Cruz on vocals; and “New Steel” featuring Salamain vocalist Paolo Valenciano. The CD also features guest vocals from Norma Love, Iwa Motors, and MowMow.

 

Majority of the songs in this CD are written by Yael Yuzon and it should be noted that this is the band’s first full-length studio recording with their new drummer Tedmark Cruz. Araw Oras Tagpuan is an innovative album that blends fresh ideas by incorporating piano as performed by Yael Yuzon, drum loops, and synths while retaining the trademark sound of Sponge Cola which endeared the band to its loyal fans and music aficionados as well!

Araw Oras Tagpuan will be released in all leading record bars nationwide on the first week of September.

I really had to search the net the other day to check who is the lady wearing this Walt Disney-inspired collection. Pardon me because I don't normally watch the local news. Thanks to Google for the help.

Oh boy! I really don't get the outfit with all those extra strip of garment on her shoulders and wrinkled sleeves. The outfit is so "costume party".

Teenager Dies from Over Doing "It"

Share You read it right! When I first heard of this, I had to immediately search the net and check if it's possible for somebody to cause his life from excessive self-pleasure. Apparently, it can if you do it more than 40 times!

Report says, the boy started his private session around midnight and never stopped the whole night.

The mother of the 16-year old victim knew of her son's addiction to sex and intends to seek medical help already. However her decision came late when her son was found dead in his room the next day.

Report also says that even at school, kid's classmates are also aware of his problem and some even witnessed seeing the boy having webcam sessions.

A local of Rubiato Town in Goias Brazil, the boy was found dead with a great amount of pornographic materials inside his room and a PC infested with nude women.

Boy's name was not mentioned for security.

Your thoughts? Oh well, this is truly a fierce news I could say.

Petra & Pilar - Grilled Ham & Sandwich

I always enjoy dining in at Petra & Pilar whenever I get the chance; and that was the case today during lunch. Just to avoid eating rice, it would always be their toasted Ham & Cheese that I would order. Their ham and Cheese just seem to blend well together. It would always be a satisfying experience in every single bite.

But that was not the case yesterday afternoon!

Instead of serving Ham and Cheese, they served Salami and Cheese. How's that?! Actually, there's a sense of insult I felt when they served salami instead of ham. It's as if there telling their customers, "You cannot tell the difference, anyway"! Probably, there could be a difference if they offered the information beforehand that they ran out of ham and they are serving salami instead.

Oh well. I still love their food anyway and will continue to visit them if there's a chance. I just hope they stay true on what their menu suggests versus what they serve to their customers.

After what is called ages, I had the chance to visit Teriyaki Boy at Glorieta 3 today. Back in the days, I remember how frequent we visited the place. Short of saying our sweat glands emits that of Teriyaki Boy sauce. We simply love their food!

Until I visited them again today. I know I have to order what for me is their best:

• Yakemeshi Rice - Japanese fired rice
• Teriyaki Boy Chicken - (My all time favorite) Grilled boneless chicken, marinated and cooked with Teriyaki Boy Sauce
• Tofu Steak -Breaded silken tofu, stuffed with sweet and savoury sauce. Then finished with stir-fried ground pork, sweet onions, chives and steak sauce

Food is as good as I recall them. Not the greasy pseudo Japanese fare the cheap Japanese resto are known for. Teriyaki Boy made good Japanese food within reach to families, officer workers and the student - In a affordable manner that is.

The whole experience should have been lovely if not for the temperature inside their restaurant. It was darn too hot to ignore it!

 When I asked the crew to turn it on, she replied, "Sir, sira po yan eh" (Sir, it's busted). We were then ushered to an area near the 2nd aircondition: for us to realise that only the fan was working.

What a discomfort!

Message to Teriyaki Boy - Please fix your darn air-conditioning! It is really a turn off!

Oh well, I still love their food!

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar - Where History & Comfort Reunite

Philippine History was one of the subjects I hated back when I was a student. I even remember failing this subject  in college out of plain boredom reading and memorizing information that are irrelevant. The memory is still fresh on how I avoid any class participation when history is the topic. Wednesday back in college was hell day! 

But this somewhat changed when I visited a place called, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar.

I was invited to have a trip up north, somewhere in Central Luzon - Bataan. Naturally, I inquired where and what is the place called. However, when the told me about the place, my forehead creased with the reply I got. " Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar".

The Road Trip

We left Manila early, 5:30 am, since the road trip would take you approximately 4 hours. There are 2 options to take when driving: SCTEX Dinalupan exit or NLEX San Fernando exit. We took SCTEX which is the most practical way from where we are coming from.  

 

Tip: Bring along a map with you or download Venue Map in you IPAD. The turns can be confusing - most particularly if you are along Roman Highway already.

 

You may also consider a stopover along the way for coffee or bathroom break. It sure is a long drive after all.

 

Upon Arrival

After 1 stopover, 30 mins of being lost and a 4 hour-drive packed with emo songs, we arrived at the venue. Sadly, the rain was pouring hard. It was too strong you feel like the roof of the car was being thrown stones at.

 

We were welcomed by their friendly staff and was ushered to the reception area. One by one, we were fetched from the car and was assisted to the main hall were refreshments await us.

The experience for me is all about nostalgia. I didn't live during this era for sure but having a short taste of the past reminds me how rich our own culture is & how privileged those who lived these times. It's all about the simplicity of life and the creativity of the people who lived ahead of us.
