Share It was early last year when I first heard of the word, Poi, from a friend. I had no idea what it was until my friend educated me about it. At first I thought it was a breed of a dog from the sound of it. Pardon my stupidity! But if hearing it at first gives you an idea that is a type of a fish (Koi), I am proud to say, "You are worst that me!"

Another fierce find revealed!

After dinner last night, I decided to join my friends to watch the group Planet Zips perform at Cafe Mondial (Silvercity) Pasig City. Planet Zips or PZ for short holds a monthly Spindependence (SpinD) to showcase their passion in the art of self-expression - Poi. The show was suppose to start at 8:00 PM. But it was not until after 5 cigarette sticks and endless chatting with friends before there was even a clue that the event will happen. I also heard that last night was not only a regular SpinD for PZ but it was also a despedia (send off) for their Head Instructor.

Fierce Blogs was pleased to have attended Planet Zips' gig last night. It was fiery and fierce for sure! Was I entertained? You bet I was! I am simply amaze how their bodies can manage to gracefully move while there are 2 pieces of flaming balls around them - Not to mention the spinning and heat that is part of the repertoire. While watching them I could already imagine burning what's left of my hair if ever I try this pop culture that invaded our tinsel.

As part of our constantly evolving street culture, PZ has done a great job promoting Poi as a mainstream form of art in our country. It's about time to have an alternative lifestyle aside from the tech world that has eaten our lives. As an appreciation, Fierce Blogs is recommending the passion of Zipping to those who are in darn need to express themselves.

I believe PZ is also selling Poi merchandise. Actually I wanted to ask if they are selling shirts (which I wanted to have last night) to non-members. Too bad I was too busy watching their "moves".
